Hange’s Mission Accomplished

From the moment we met him, we knew he was going to take us for a ride we just didn’t know it would end this soon.

We knew something was off the moment Hange stopped playing and started isolating himself. We rushed him to the emergency vet last night where they found his stomach flipped, and due to his senior age (turns out Hange is much older than we thought and was well over 10 years old!) and previous medical history it was safe to assume that there was a bigger issue at hand. If we were to proceed with another surgery there was no telling if he’d even survive that, let alone his quality of life after. We had to make the tough decision and say goodbye to our sweet boy. It is crazy how fast things can happen.

We are extremely grateful that he found his way to us and he chose us to spend his last year with. Even through all his surgeries, he was such a trooper. It felt like nothing phased him and he could play through anything as long as we were there. I already miss him as my morning alarm, the constant nuzzles, his non-stop energy and it breaks my heart seeing his comfort toys he couldn’t go anywhere without. I wish I took more pictures of him, when he’d play fetch with himself or chase his tail. I hope he’s up there playing in a field of endless tiny rubber footballs that will never get stuck under the couch.

Thank you Hange for all the lessons you’ve taught us & for showing us unconditional love. Heaven gained another angel.

& thank you to all of you who donated and helped give Hange a wonderful last year of life. We are so blessed to have a community that supports us.
